Part reminiscence, part diary, the manuscript describes the author's experiences recruiting labour for Fijian plantations from the Solomon Islands in 1880. He was a government agent. The manuscript describes several voyages and gives a detailed account of the areas visited, the natives and their appearance and social customs, and the process of recruiting.
